Born Wilton Norman Chamberlain, Wilt was born in 1936
and died on October 12, 1999. He played for such star teams as the
Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles
Lakers. Wilt Chamberlain also played for the Harlem Globetrotters in 1958-1959, which was an
exhibition team which entertained through athleticism, comedy and theater. Wilt
has the distinction of being the only basketball player in history to average
more than 40, and also 50 points in a single season, or to score 100 points in
one single NBA game.
